The recent Bless Japan Conference in Tokyo was a powerful reminder of the vital role ethnic minorities in Japan play in reaching the Japanese with the gospel. Many of these believers are deeply integrated into Japanese society—married to Japanese nationals, raising bilingual children, teaching at public and private schools, studying at Japan’s top universities, and working in Japanese-speaking industries and communities. These individuals have unique access to both their own ethnic groups and the wider Japanese population, making them very important to the advancement of the gospel.
With 3.3 million foreign residents in Japan, ethnic and immigrant communities are no longer outsiders but a deeply rooted part of society. Their ability to bridge cultural gaps positions them to build trust and share the gospel across different communities and generations throughout Japan. Many ethnic believers are not only integrating into Japanese life but are also becoming leaders in their local churches and communities.
“My parents have worked in Tokyo for many years. I came here and came to know the Lord. Last year, I was baptized, and I’ve begun serving in our local church.”
At New Life Ministries, we believe that empowering these believers with more resources is crucial for discipleship and church growth—both within Japan and in the region. They are an essential part of the spiritual future of Japan.
One of the most exciting tools in our ministry is the Manga Messiah, a unique Bible resource translated into over 40 languages.

Young and older men, groups of women and mothers, families, young kids, teens wearing their national dresses, university students, missionaries, and church leaders approached the NLM booth asking for different versions of the Manga Messiah. Many of them asked for the Japanese, English, Tagalog, and Chinese versions.

New Life Ministries is a non-denominational Christian ministry committed to serving the Lord by printing and sending Bibles and Gospel literature to Japan and the rest of the world, in each people group’s heart language.
Beginning in 1954, under the name New Life League, the ministry reached out to children, provided Gospel literature, and did evangelism through radio broadcast.
Later on, the work shifted more to the collection and printing of Gospel literature as the main focus.
Throughout history, there has always been a call for the supply of Bibles, and New Life Ministries has continued to do all that it can to meet the demand. Our purpose is to see Japan changed for Jesus, and that the whole world be filled with His precious Word.
