In October 2020, New Life Ministries printed and delivered 50,000 Lahu Bibles (with hymnals). The Lahu people are a hill tribe, made of 700,000 people scattered throughout Myanmar, Yunnan Province of China, Thailand, and Laos. The delivery of the Bibles to the Lahu people was made possible through our mission partner.
(For a detailed report, please read this article.)
With the distribution of the 50,000 Bibles now complete, we’d like to share with you the report of our mission partner, and the messages of gratitude from the people who received the Bibles.
We finalized the distribution of 50,000 copies of the Lahu Bible (hymnals included).
The distribution had progressed at a steady pace, little by little. We sent the majority of the Lahu Bibles to Myanmar, and a part to Thailand as well. At first, we thought they would be enough to meet their needs, but as we are receiving more requests we are considering producing more at the end of this year.
The revision of the New Testament that we have been sponsoring is expected to be completed around September.
We have recorded the distribution of Lahu Bibles in a church from a small village called Hoi Thad in northern Thailand.
The following are testimonies from the people in Hoi Thad that have received the Bibles.
My name is J. and I’m 60 years old. I’m living in Hoi Thad village, and I’m a farmer.
As a child, I grew up in a Christian home, but my faith had been formal. I would go to church, but I wouldn’t truly look for Christ.
Except for our Bible teachers, the people in our village did not own a Bible.
I would go to church and listen to the Bible teachers’ sermons. At 30 years old, I decided to follow Jesus. I asked and received permission from our Bible teacher to read his Bible in church. That is what truly changed me. Through the Bible I grew in Christ and matured spiritually.
Ever since then, I have gained a new hope. I was given the heart to go to church, to pray, and to help other people. My faith in Christ had been strengthened. I was freed from my fears and instead gained courage. I began sharing the gospel with other people and some of them have turned to Christ. I strived to be faithful to God’s calling upon my life.
I am so excited to have the Bible in my hands today. Today, many people received the Bible, the Word of God, for the first time in their lives. They are just as excited as I am.
This is my first Bible as well. I had no idea that there was such a work of offering Bibles to people free of charge. Thank you very much. May God bless you abundantly.
My name is Job (like Job of the Bible) and I am 62 years old. I live in Hoi Thad village. I am an evangelist and I am a member of this village’s church committee. I grew up in a very poor, Christian family. As a child, my parents sent me to a public school in Chiang Mai, but I would return to the village during school vacations.
The village church had a very good children evangelist; I decided to follow Jesus and got baptized before I turned 15. After that, I did my best to follow Christ and live as He had commanded, but it was not until I turned 50 years old when I understood that I was truly meant to serve Him.
Christ revealed to me that I was to become an evangelist. So I decided to go to a village where there were no Christians and share Christ’s teachings with the villagers. For the past 12 years I have been sharing Christ as an evangelist.
I have seen how God gives abundantly to those who follow Him. We are very poor here in this village, but God has provided a way for all my children to attend college. I thank God for this great miracle.
And today I received the Bible. Thank you so much. Thank you also for your encouraging messages. I felt a strong desire to read the whole Bible. You have taught me how to read and understand the Bible and how it strengthens my faith in Christ.
May God continue to bless you, your families, and your ministry in abundance so that you may continue to provide Bibles to those in need. Thank you so much!
We are grateful that the Bibles printed at New Life Ministries were delivered safely across the seas and reached those who needed them.
Please remember to pray for the Bible recipients, for our mission partners, and for the Bible printing at New Life Ministries.
New Life Ministries is a non-denominational Christian ministry committed to serving the Lord by printing and sending Bibles and Gospel literature to Japan and the rest of the world, in each people group’s heart language.
Beginning in 1954, under the name New Life League, the ministry reached out to children, provided Gospel literature, and did evangelism through radio broadcast.
Later on, the work shifted more to the collection and printing of Gospel literature as the main focus.
Throughout history, there has always been a call for the supply of Bibles, and New Life Ministries has continued to do all that it can to meet the demand. Our purpose is to see Japan changed for Jesus, and that the whole world be filled with His precious Word.
