The T’boli are one of the indigenous peoples of the Philippines, primarily residing in South Cotabato on the island of Mindanao. Traditionally, the T’boli perform animistic rituals, and their spiritual beliefs are deeply intertwined with their daily lives and cultural customs. The province of Cotabato, where they live, faces geographical barriers to other regions, as well as ongoing security concerns.
Furthermore, Cotabato is home to a diverse mix of indigenous peoples, Christians, and Muslims, and there is tension among different religious groups. As a result, many areas in Cotabato lack access to educational books and Gospel materials.
However, the Manga Messiah series is now being used in classrooms in Cotabato. For children from impoverished or challenging home environments, the Manga Messiah series not only serves as a tool to teach Bible stories, but also conveys life lessons that transcend religious boundaries. It is also helping to improve literacy rates.
Volunteers with the Philippine Values Education Program (PVEPI) are receiving positive feedback from the children. The Manga Bible has captivated the hearts of T’boli students, who are beginning to enjoy reading as they learn about the story of Jesus. In such areas, improving literacy is crucial for understanding the Word of God. When people are able to read and comprehend God’s Word, it opens the door to true life transformation and spiritual growth.
Please continue to pray for the local ministry partners. Through organizations such as Reach A Village (RAV) and the Philippine Values Education Program (PVEPI), the Gospel is being brought to places like Cotabato. We are deeply grateful for your continued support.
Note: The Manga Messiah series includes Manga Messiah, The Messiah, and The Messiah Study Guide.
