Puerto Rico has a strong Christian heritage but also faces significant challenges in its social and educational systems. These difficulties highlight the need for new and relatable ways to share the faith. With many students, athletes, and teenagers currently engrossed in reading materials and digital content, it’s crucial to capture their attention with engaging alternatives that will lead them to Christ.
By introducing the Manga Messiah and other books of the Manga Bible, New Life Ministries, through its partner organizations, is drawing in readers who might otherwise overlook traditional religious texts. These Bible-based Manga stories offer a fresh way to present the life-changing and hope-filled messages of the Bible. By resonating with a wide range of readers and seamlessly integrating Biblical realities into their everyday interests, these Manga Bibles are enriching the evangelism efforts of Christian organizations throughout the Caribbean region.
Spiritual resources like the Manga Rebellion, Manga Messiah, and Manga Metamorphosis offer a more engaging way to connect with the unreached. For example, the “Connecting the New Generations with the Word of God” campaign in Puerto Rican Christian schools uses Manga Bible reading, storytelling, and interactive activities to help students connect with the Bible and to address their unique challenges.
The impact of Manga Bibles also extends to sports-focused projects like “PRO-BOUNCE,” which merges basketball training with Gospel teachings. Steven Garcia is a notable Puerto Rican basketball player and evangelist who has gained recognition for integrating his sports career with faith-based outreaches. Through his initiative “PRO-BOUNCE,” Garcia provides basketball training in communities while also sharing spiritual truths.
This project, supported by Mies Foundation, helped direct Garcia’s dedication to using sports as a platform for evangelism, aiming to inspire and mentor young people both on and off the court. This faith-based outreach targeting athletes in public housing complexes across the country has been able to reach hundreds of children and teenagers initially interested in engaging in sports activities. The approach highlights how Manga Bibles can go beyond conventional evangelism, integrating faith into ordinary activities and making the Bible more relatable even for busy athletes and their friends and families.
The Epicentro Festival Kids in October was also a highly anticipated and well-attended event in Puerto Rico, known for drawing large crowds of children and families. This event serves as a vibrant community gathering that combines entertainment, education, and spiritual enrichment. Festival attendees were easily drawn to the Manga Bibles. By adding these biblical Manga to the festival, organizers effectively brought the Gospel closer to all festival-goers.
We will always be grateful to all of NLM’s donors, individuals and churches, and partner organizations whose prayer, generosity, and commitment make these outreach efforts possible. Your support plays the biggest role in bringing Manga Bibles to unreached communities across Puerto Rico. May our collective efforts lead more families and nations to the love of Jesus Christ.
New Life Ministries is a non-denominational Christian ministry committed to serving the Lord by printing and sending Bibles and Gospel literature to Japan and the rest of the world, in each people group’s heart language.
Beginning in 1954, under the name New Life League, the ministry reached out to children, provided Gospel literature, and did evangelism through radio broadcast.
Later on, the work shifted more to the collection and printing of Gospel literature as the main focus.
Throughout history, there has always been a call for the supply of Bibles, and New Life Ministries has continued to do all that it can to meet the demand. Our purpose is to see Japan changed for Jesus, and that the whole world be filled with His precious Word.
